Your opinion needed

My dear relative s everywhere

Early this year, under the auspices of Kalpulli Turtle Island Multiveristy, there is an editorial entitled, Emulating Egypt Etc!

While those of us who comprise the membership of Kalpulli don't need to take credit for what's happening, we would like to think that in some small way we helped create the conditions within which this current albeit embryonic revolution is getting underway!

Dare we hope, dare we dream, that at long last the human species has reached a tipping point-- at long last 7 Billion children, women & men are sick to death of endless war, the

Cold Water Spring is Getting CHOPPED

on Thu, 09/08/2011 - 21:19
In the week of August 15, the Park Service cut down the willow tree I was married under last year. It was over a hundred years old, I think, & the historical marker about Cold Water Spring used to lean beneath it. But the historical marker was graffiti'd & taken away, never to return; last year upon acquiring the land the Park Service set about chopping trees, buckthorn, & removing parts of the burned up Spirit Tree on the hill beside the spring.

Kenneth Harding and Fuck The Police -- by Ryan 'Bugs' Williams-Virden

on Thu, 08/11/2011 - 16:29

Many of you have undoubtedly heard about Kenneth Harding, the 19 year old black man who was shot running away from the SFPD after they were checking for valid transfers at a Muni station. The bay is once again at the center of a conversation around police brutality. Just last night 35 people were arrested protesting the shooting, which they believe to be another in a long history of police devaluing and ultimately taking the lives of specifically young black men. Others, including the police, are saying this shooting was justified because Keneth Harding shot at the officers first.

WIGGER DAY @ High School? An Open Letter from Ryan

on Thu, 08/11/2011 - 16:23

Dear Red Wing High School,

I should be working on my grad work right now, but instead I am writing this.  That is how serious I feel it is that somebody addresses you in the manner that I plan on. It doesn’t matter to me whether or not you were a part of the group that planned “Wigger Day”, or if you participated or not, you are all guilty. Either you partook directly in this nonsense or you sat passively by and watched as others demonstrated their ignorance, bigotry and hatred. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

News and Radio Dues: Taking off the Kid Gloves

on Wed, 06/08/2011 - 19:24

Some good news:

Let us look to Canada where recently, a 21- year-old intern/page for the Canadian Senate exercised her girl power. The right wing in Canada has the majority thanks to the majority vote-- but this woman walked down the floor of the Canadian senate with a sign saying STOP Harper-- Canada's George Bush!

Brigette Lapay is brave, recently fired from that position, but hired by Michael Moore to now make movies!

Some bad news – KFAI recently had its boar d meeting & just hired a new Director who used to work for Minnesota Public (corporate) Radio.

Summer Solstice meeting? Gardening? Let's get together

on Wed, 06/08/2011 - 04:11

Hello,

we're Kalpulli & we're here to stay. Our current Kalpulli Garden is in Minneapolis, no longer St Paul.

Many thanks to Karen & co.; now it's headed up at Becca & Eric's place. The side yard of 3216 29th Ave S in Longfellow neighborhood is our new experimental, organic veggie garden that will foster community--

as soon as you decide to participate! There's already far more plants than we need; come on over & get some lettuce plants! Let's diversify!

Kalpulli garden parties soon to come

-- And--

It's time for a real board meeting. When should we meet at Hamline University?

Ray Speaks at Harlem Convention

on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 22:29

Thanks to Brother Fred Ho and the other members of a scientific soul, four speakers were invited to a one day conference dealing with indigeneity and its links to Marxism. They included Brother Doug George Kanetiio from the Six Nations Confederacy, Brother Tiokasin Ghosthorse from the Lakota Nation, Brother and Doctor Johnathan Kasotiio from the Hawaiian and the University of Hawaii and yours truly.

The gathering was held in sacred Harlem at the northern end of Manhattan island in New York City.

Indigeneity, the heart of Kalpulli

My dear relatives,

Many essays & editorials have been put up,

they have all been relevant  & many of them have been excellent with the possible exception of my own ramblings!

The time has come for us to be inspired by the words of my late & lamented mother, “It’s time to get down & dirty.”

If there is any self-criticism or general criticism of our writings, it is simply this:

we & I in particular probably have not said enough about what I like to call the Indigenous Imperative.

The world’s several hundred million native or Indigenous people will
